The Rogers Art Loft at The Lucy, a multi-disciplinary artist-in-residency program dedicated to inclusivity, creativity, and empowerment of artists, kicks off its year three roster of artists by welcoming Michigan based painter Sherell Chillik for a six-week artist-in-residency through April 17, 2022. Chillik’s work explores portraiture and narrative through oil and acrylic mediums. While in Las Vegas, she will create works that explore relationship roles, inspired by biblical narratives using realism and acrylic paints and will offer several opportunities to engage with the community.Sherell Chillik will host an Artist Talk on Thursday, March 17 at 6 p.m., a collage-making workshop on Saturday, April 2 at 6 p.m. and will offer a culminating event for the community on Thursday, April 14 at 6 p.m. All events are free to attend and will take place at Rogers Studio Gallery (620 S. 7th Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101). Refreshments will be provided by PublicUs. To ensure the health and safety of all, RSVPs are encouraged, and face masks must be properly worn except when eating or drinking.

This workshop will focus on themes of togetherness and love. Attendees will explore elements of art and create conversations about interpretations of the meaning of love. An accomplished artist, Sherell Chillik was born in 1993 in Detroit, Michigan. She received her BFA, painting at College For Creative Studies, in 2018. Chillik’s work explores portraiture and narrative through oil and acrylic mediums. She has shown work and participated in the AICAD Residency in Dumbo, Brooklyn, New York, and volunteered to create murals around the Brightmoor community of Detroit from 2012 to 2015.Chillik currently teaches private and public art classes in Flint, MI, and has participated in local art events and fairs to engage with her community. Her most recent shows include “The 59th Annual Thumb Area Artists Exhibition” in Romeo, MI, “State of the Arts” in Prairie Village KS, “Women’s Show” at Norwest Gallery in Detroit, MI, and the “Art Beat Miami” Annual Exhibition.
